Richard is a friendly and professional teacher who has a wide range of musical experience. It is very rare to find a teacher who can provide outstanding tuition all the way through from Grade 1 to Grade 8. He started teaching my daughter piano when she was aged 6 and now she is 14 she has achieved a Distinction at Grade 8, so I can say without a doubt Richard belongs to this category of teacher. He is an inspirational teacher who has developed my daughter’s full musical potential to become an exceptional piano and saxophone player. Richard is very patient, good humoured and passionate about his music. He gets on very well with children and most of all makes learning fun. He has an ability to enthuse his students and understands their individual needs. Richard has been teaching me both the piano and the saxophone for over 8 years and I have learnt so much from his amazing teaching. He is so helpful and thorough and makes learning a musical instrument so much fun! He has guided me from Grade 1 to Grade 8 piano as well as up to Grade 5 in saxophone and helped me achieve the very best grades I could. You can tell from his teaching that he is very passionate and dedicated, and always gives fun and creative new ways to practice elements that I might have struggled at in the lesson, so that I can improve in the best way possible. I felt completely prepared and confident when entering exams, due to his excellent and committed teaching. Thanks to his efforts I achieved Distinction in both Grade 8 Piano and Grade 5 Saxophone. Richard started virtually teaching our son Daniel after lockdown started and we noticed the difference straight away. While Daniel was keen on the piano, he found motivation difficult to come by with his previous teacher and it was becoming a chore to get him to practice.
All that has changed now and Daniel practices on his own volition and he is motivated to become a better player and even submits recordings of playing to his school to show at assembly.
He has become a much more confident player and really looks forward to and enjoys his lessons; this is all down to Richard's approach.
He is both patient and encouraging and he makes the lessons fun and Daniel is really motivated to do well for him.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Richard and we look forward to watching our son continue to develop.
